Serial rapist’s victim demands to know why Romanian attacker was let into Britain.

Mum of four raped by a serial sex attacker has demanded to know why he was let into Britain. Sharon Jones, 42, was subjected to a two-hour assault by Romanian repeat sex offender. Vasile Nastase had served time abroad for two almost identical rapes. Despite being sentenced to a total of 16 years in prison in his home country, Nastase, 49, came to Britian and got a job in a factory.

Sharon told The Sunday People “Why has this happened to me? “We put our trust in the Government to protect us and they keep failing. “I haven’t even had a letter from the Home Office apologising and recognising they made a mistake by letting this man into the UK. They aren’t keeping women safe.” On the evening of the attack Sharon was walking home alone when he grabbed her in the street and forced her into the house where he was living before raping her.

Sharon said she begged for her life as she thought he would murder her and and “chop her up”. Nastase was arrested but Sharon was horrified when he was released on bail to return to his home in Leigh, just yards from her own. Sharon had no idea Nastase was a serial rapist until she found out from the probation report printed in a local paper. It revealed he was sentenced to six years in prison in Romania in 1993 for beating and raping a woman and ten years in 2009 for a second rape. For weeks after the attack Sharon woke up screaming in the night and worried she may have caught HIV. Nastase was jailed for a minimum of ten years in August, with a judge saying he posed a significant risk to others.

He was also given a restraining order banning him from ever contacting or attempting to contact Sharon and he was placed on the Violent and Sex Offender Register for life.
