A special unit of the Federal Police have searched an apartment in the German capital and have arrested a 37-year-old Syrian for preparing a terrorist attack.

The investigators accuse him of having procured material for the bomb construction. The 37-year-old Syrian is said to have informed and exchanged on the Internet about the construction of bombs. “The purpose of the chat traffic should have been the preparation of terrorist attacks,” said the Attorney General Berlin. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Karlsruhe investigates on suspicion of preparing a serious state-damaging violence against the man. In addition, the suspect’s home in Berlin had been searched, said the highest German prosecution further. The federal prosecutor accuses the man, since January of this year, components and chemicals for the construction of an explosive device concerned. The bomb should therefore be detonated at an unknown time in an unknown location in order to kill and injure as many people as possible.

In August and September 2019, the man allegedly bought acetone and hydrogen peroxide solution. Both chemicals are needed for the production of the highly explosive triacetontriperoxide. The man was arrested on the basis of a warrant issued by the Tiergarten district court.
